Halloween Tripple Modded Items
It has now been eleven months since the halloween quests dropped bugged items with 3 mods instead of the usual 2. Community relations was quick to inform us that those items are considered bugged and would be removed from the game. This has not occurred yet. The longer these items are left in the game, the greater the resentment of the players when they are removed. While Anet does not owe the players anything when they address bugs, it would be a nice gesture on their part if players who have these items now got something in return for their removal.
I propose to Anet that they give out one of their magazine promotional miniatures in exchange for our bugged items. For example: a grey giant, asura or ceratadon, or another of the more common promo minis (I am not asking for a panda.) It would be a sign of good will on their part towards their player base.
Disclosure:
Yes, I have one of these bugged items. I know it is a glitched weapon and I have made no attempt to sell or trade it, nor equip and use it. I have kept it in storage, because its so unusual, but after almost a year now, I am wondering if anything will ever be done about these.

So they should give you items for removing items that shouldent exist?
Dont think i need to say more.

I fully expect them to remove these eventually. If they do and I do not get anything for it, I am the one who will be short one gold item that had dropped for me.
It would be a nice gesture, if I got something for the item. I respect the integrity of the game and have refrained from selling it to another player and passed up the ectos it would fetch. So, this suggestion, and its just that, a random suggestion, is when they take these away, items that many players would consider rare and thus valuable, that something in return is given.
Had these been remove right away, I wouldn't have suggested this, but the longer they remain in game, the more perceived value these items will acquire and the stronger the resentment at their loss.

You will not get banned for using them.
Again, Why should you be "awarded" because you havent used a item that shouldent exist?

Because at the end of the day, I am the one who is still short one item.
I know Anet does not owe me anything. I derive amusement from their games and I have read the EULA. However, community relations can be complicated, and Anet has their own interest in mind when they keep us players happy. "They took my valuable item!" would be the cry of unhappy players. So, my suggestion was aimed at reducing discontent with their less then timely fix of the issue.
What are these glitched items worth? Price checks on them were closed here on Guru shortly after they started dropping. Some people have no doubt started playing hot potato with them, hoping to sell them for more than they payed, to someone else before they get deleted.
Totally off-topic: a free mini for everyone in exchange for no more shadowform? Worth it! And whichever mini it was it would cease being rare at that point.

Lol, after 11 months, the chances of them removing the items are less than 0. They have to trace down the items in their databases, and they are in so deep now that the manpower required just to remove them is too high for the actual benefit to Anet.
Also, QQ much?

Long story short;
I assume that, by reading the EULA, you understood that your guild wars account you're using is actually a property of ANet and NCsoft, and they can do whatever they want with it, even banning you and taking all your stuff away for any reason or even no reason whatsoever (and they are not obliged to tell you the reason also...).
So yeah... QQ much?

On a side note, EULA be damned. Simply by telling players their names will transfer to GW2 they have undermined whatever claims they state gives them ownership of your information on the account. This includes in game stuff as well. The truth is nobody will sue Anet over a gaming account. Snicker, several laws trumps their EULA. God I want them to ban me.

Nothing has happened yet with these items. Will something happen before GW2 comes out? Only the developer knows. In part, I wanted to bring up the topic to see if there were any news since search didn't reveal anything new.
Thank you for the various offers of 700g/unid gold item, but they are not needed for myself. I made the suggestion I did out of a sense of fairness, something for something, for those who may feel shortchanged in the eventuality of removal.
I mentioned that I had such an item myself, because 1: it would've been asked anyway
and 2: because that's how I know they are still in the game.
It's not a qq thread because I still have the item, expect to lose it eventually anyway (per EULA), and am not out much except the lockpick I used on the chest to get it.

Either remove one of the 3 mods and make it a standard mod, or remove the items completely.
Just because Anet didn't remove it yet doesn't mean it's ok to keep it. In fact anyone who have one should have deleted it themselves. The "nice gesture" would simply be to randomly remove one of the 3 mods on these items.

Here's to hoping you get your wish. As we have seen many times before, banned players will not get there names reserved for GW2. Bet that will be a fun grind for you when that oh so desired ban comes in! you're account belongs to Anet, plain and simple, whatever laws you feel protect you ended the moment you first accessed the game(read the EULA). heard this argument for quite some time after the banning last happened and as of yet, haven't heard of these wondrous laws coming to the rescue.

What about just allowing them to exist and don't waste the scarce manpower of the live team to solve this minor problem?
Is it for fear that anybody would have unfair advantage from using them? They have already existed for this long and I haven't heard of the game being ruined because someone used a 3-modded wand.

They obviously aren't going to remove them. Allow them to be traded on guru it's just silly now.

They have been traded on guru already I think, or at least some of the Mausoleum drops have. Uninscr Scythes/Spears and the max dmg Tribal Axe come to mind.
Also, they can't remove them anymore. The sheer effort it takes them to trace down the items is ridiculous. They would have to dig through 1 year of data just to find them. They don't care enough and don't have the manpower to get it done.

ANet barely has enough Staff members to keep the botters out of GW, what makes you think that they have the numbers to perform a thorough database search in order to remove these items?
Also, the notion of expecting a reward for having items that do not belong in the game removed is just absurd...
It's almost as silly as saying "I've got 50/50HoM, played for X Years, ANet owes me a debt of gratitude for being loyal to their game. Therefore I want them to give me over 9000 ectos."
Besides, remember when the dual enchanting axes were removed? No compensation then.. why start asking for any now?
Seriously guys...

For me it sounds like
"hey I duped armbracers nearly a year ago, I still have my armbracers so can I have a reward for it?"

Ditto
These are golds we are talking about and not like the modable WiK greens or the old rockmolder. They will prob take a lot longer to track down and fix, especially with a small live team that is busy cranking out free new content for us.

What would be really interesting is if a year later they still didn't correct the underlying issue in the Mausoleum and they continue to drop...time will tell.
